YIPPEE!! Yesterday went to makan at Pu TienResturant... YUM YUM!
The xinghua bee hoonBERI fine... if the normal bee hoon selling outside is about 1mm thick, then its bee hoon should be around 0.5mm (half of the former)... cool! Not oily at all... flavourful (got abit of veggie, mushrooms, egg omelette stripes, prawns, pork, clams)... OOH!!! and crispy seeweeds and peanuts that really added slight crunchiness to the soft bee hoon. GOOD! 4.5/5
I also tried their hong zhao ji (chicken meat cooked with rice wine)... YUMMY! Even my mother claims that it was done MUCH MUCH BETTER than her own style of hong zhao ji. The meat was tender and soft yet got slight QQ texture. The dish came with snow peas... the sauce was thicker than my mother's style (my mother's was more runny...she added more water to dilute the rice wine) but then, it was not too salty or what. I think it would defintely be a good dish to go along with plain white rice! :) 4.5/5 Another side dish that I ordered was kai lan with beancurd skin. This was a disappointment though. Coz i was expecting for more veggie since the menu named it that the kai lan came first before beancurd skin...BUT... -.- the beancurd skin was covering the whole of the plate and those poor kai lan hidding below. The beancurd skin was BERI BERI thick...so i guess it was rather value for money. Seriously, i do hope Pu Tien can add more kai lan... is like the only use 3 mini stalks or 1 BIG stalk of kai lan for the dish...so stingy! The sauce also kinda salty... 3.8/5 LASTLY, i ordered a dessert!!! PUMPKIN PASTE WITH ICE CREAM!!! OH MY!!! i was craving for ice cream for the whole week!!! However, this dish did not really meet my satisfaction. Because i was expecting a more flavourful pumpkin paste... the paste was runny, watery... the pumpkin taste not beri distinct but still can be tasted out. The ice cream was special as it has coconut milk flavour in it. I though it would be vanilla. But i guess since the paste was not thick enough, the coconut milk flavour ice cream would be a good choice to help add a creamier texture and a more flavourful touch to the dessert. 3.8/5 Yummy moment... sigh... craving for cheesecake now...LOL
